The section definition begins by choosing the origin point of the chute, followed by the user's successive definition of segments and terminates with a chosen end point. The choice of origin and end points is very important as an error in there affects the final results.

The Starting Point command provides access to the window shown in Figure 41. The starting point is defined as the first point of contact of the chute or the foundation in the upstream direction. In this window, an X (or Y) coordinate can be entered into the appropriate field and the associated coordinate is calculated automatically using the foundation profile. The Chute window is updated once the starting point has been chosen and a small cross indicates the chute position.
