The Extrusion option command opens the Extrusion window (Figure 101) and allows the user to define the extrusion plane. The desired nodes must be selected from the list of available nodes (all nodes used in the contour definition) and associated with the extrusion thickness. The direction of the extrusion In front or behind the polygon must then be specified to close the volume definition. The shape of the volume added or removed can then be viewed in the main CADAM3D window. In case of an error in the volume definition, the Edit command in the Add / Remove Volumes window can be used to change the parameters entered previously.

Figure 101

The table below presents the direction of extrusion according to the contour plane and the direction of extrusion (in front or behind polygon):

Plane

In front of Polygon

Behind polygon

X-Y plane (elevation U/S to D/S)

Contour is extruded toward the positive Z-axis direction

Contour is extruded toward the negative Z-axis direction

X-Z plane (plan where X is the ordinate)

Contour is extruded toward the positive Y-axis direction

Contour is extruded toward the negative Y-axis direction

Y-Z plane (elevation left-to-right)

Contour is extruded toward the negative X-axis direction

Contour is extruded toward the positive X-axis direction
